Hanno Settele has not looked into his vaccination record for years. The Austrians have become vaccination-weary, even vaccination-sceptical, and are among the bottom of the league in Europe in terms of vaccination rates. It is by no means only social fringe groups who endanger themselves and above all others without vaccination protection: More and more well-educated parents - even vaccinated ones - no longer let their children be immunized against diseases such as measles, polio and whooping cough. And so, diseases with potentially severe courses that only occur in developing countries are now returning.
